Helen Noel Comeaux

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at St. Mary's Church for Helen Noel Comeaux, the former Helen Mae Landry, 90, of Lafayette, who passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 8, 2012. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. W. E. (Blackie) Noel and second husband, John O. Comeaux; three brothers, Marcel Landry, Rees Landry and Clarence Landry. She is survived by her sister, Lucille Landry Sellers of Lafayette and her four children, Cindi N. Whittington and her husband Robert, Louis H. Noel and his wife Carol, all of Lafayette, Suzanne N. Eschete Daniel and her husband Floyd of Gloster, MS and Madel N. Carline and her husband Mark of Ethel, LA; thirteen grandchildren, Monica W. Broussard, Rachel W. Boulanger, R. Noel Whittington, all of Lafayette, Captain W. Edward Noel of Pensacola, FL, W. Joseph Noel of Lafayette, Ricky P. Eschete of Weatherford, OK Courtney E. Miley and Leigh E. Pierre of Walker, LA, PFC Charles N. Eschete of Fort Drum, NY, Joshua K Carline of Denham Springs, LA, Chloe M. Carline, Mark M. Carline II, both of Lafayette, and Elisabeth N. Carline of Ethel, LA, as well as 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Comeaux was born in Lafayette, LA on April 10, 1922 to Albert Arthur and Madel Rees Landry. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for over thirty years, a charter member of Acadian Hills Country Club and an avid golfer for over four decades. Helen enjoyed needlepoint and leaves behind a legacy of over forty intricate, handmade needlepoint Christmas stockings, treasured by each of her family members, among numerous other pieces of handwork. She also enjoyed spending time on her patio, surrounded by her flowers, ferns and the many birds that spent time in her sanctuary. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service held at 6:00 pm by Dr. Fred Malone of First Baptist Church of Clinton, LA and will continue on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 9:00 am until the time of service. Entombment will take place in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville, LA. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons; R. Noel Whittington, Captain W. Edward Noel, W. Joseph Noel, Joshua K. Carline, Mark M. Carline II, and PFC Charles N. Eschete. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacab A. Gibson, J. Scott Broussard, David Landry, Stephen Landry and Ron Guidry. Her daughters would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Hospice of Acadiana.
