Helen Virginia Kellogg

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Helen Virginia Kellogg, 84, who passed away on January 23, 2013 at 10:10 am at Maison de Lafayette. Reverend Nick and Rosemary Sigur will conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Kellogg, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Baker Jones Turner and the former Helen Middlekauff. Our Mom was the best mom in the world, if for no other reason than she taught her children about her Savior and ours, Jesus Christ. There were five of us and we began blessing her life when she was only 18 years old. Having this job as caretaker for many years, she felt a need to extend this gift to others. She went to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her favorite part of nursing was delivering the babies. Mom was involved in Bible Studies, retreats, classes and her church groups, which brought her peace and joy! Traveling fulfilled her need for adventure. She loved her cruises, her trips to Europe, but especially her beach trips. Over and above all else for our Mom was being a part of the lives of her eleven grandchildren for whom she was extremely proud. And then, the joy of having seventeen great grandchildren with one on the way. The holiday gatherings, all the kids' birthday parties and other reasons to gather were great for our Mom. She loved a party. She is survived by four daughters; Debbie Kellogg of Baton Rouge, LA, Diana and her husband, Cliff Soward, Dawn and her husband, Ian Kinsella and Dru and her husband, Dennis Talbot, all of Lafayette. She is, also, survived by 11 grandchildren, Brian Hebert (Lori), Aundria Cannon (Marty), Rashelle Rea (Donnie), Natalie Soward, Melanie Tarver, Traci Fisher, Jessica Riddle (Tony), Stephanie Hanks (Kevin), Staci Talbot, Sarah Parham (Kris), and Sheri Talbot, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister in law, "Nie" Latiolais, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis C. Kellogg; two sons, Duane Lewis Kellogg and Dirk Charles Kellogg and her brother, Baker Jones Turner. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service.
