Helyn Halo Ingram Lamb

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, June 9, 2010 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM for Helyn Halo Ingram Lamb, who passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 9:46 AM surrounded by her family at Lafayette General Medical Center. Helyn Ingram Lamb, an artist whose varied interests and numerous worldly experiences made her one of Lafayette's most cultured Renaissance women. She was born in New York but it was after her arrival in Lafayette in 1970 that she gave full rein to her interests. Known for her beauty, she added a true glamour to the city. An inveterate traveler, she went where her curiosity led her, regardless of physical difficulties or political limitations. This attitude served her well in treks through the jungles of the Amazon Basin to safaris in Africa and in coping with the endless bureaucratic red tape facing travelers to such destinations as China and Russia. She was also a great inspiration for her two daughters, upon whom she impressed the idea that they could achieve whatever they set their minds to. Her elder daughter, born Tasha Ingram but who changed her name to Erica Courtney some years later, is an award-winning, nationally-recognized jewelry designer based in Los Angeles. Her younger daughter, Cezanne Wish Nails, is co-owner with her husband, Steve Nails, of Dockside Studio, a music recording facility in Maurice, Louisiana. The offices are lined with Grammy awards and they have had the honor of working with some of the greatest musicians in the world. Helyn enjoyed bowling and learning to play the guitar up to her final days. She is survived by her children: Cezanne Nails and husband Steve, Erica Courtney; two grandchildren, Joshua Cappo and his wife Jesse, son of Erica Courtney, and Dylan Nails, son of Cezanne and Steve Nails. Brothers and sisters: She was one of ten children of Sano and Abraham Halo who were all born in New York. Her parents immigrated from Turkey in 1926 and are of Ponic Greek and Assyrian decent. John Halo, Adrian Reynolds, Thea Halo, Tim Halo, David Halo, Jamie Evens, Harty Halo, Miriam Gardiner, and a large group of loving nieces and nephews with children of their own.
