Horace Paul Trahan

A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 11, 2023 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Horace Paul Trahan, 96, who passed away on December 8, 2023. Fr. Howard Blessing will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum. Mr. Trahan, a longtime resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Albert Trahan and the former Noella Comeaux. Horace proudly served his country in WWII - Pacific Theater in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. Leedstown. Following the war, he worked for Entergy for many years and eventually retired. He was a member of several clubs, such as: Crusin' Cajuns, Les Amis, Outlaws, Bayou Ramblers, FMCA, and Lafayette Boat Club. He enjoyed playing Bourrée with his group and other various cards games. He loved fishing, camping, vacationing, and travelling, making many wonderful friends along the way. He was a true Cajun farmer who raised sheep & crawfish in his spare time and will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his sisters, Rena Trahan Gallet and Elda Trahan Huval; brother-in-law, Norris Monique; half-brother-in-law, Lennis Cormier (Mary); many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 76 years, Stella Monique Trahan; his parents; sister-in-law, Joyce Monique; and brothers-in-law, Luther Gallet, Manuel Trahan, and Wade Huval. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Randy Gallet, Keith Gallet, Brian Gallet, Ricky Huval, Steven Bellard, and Donald Comeaux. Horace would like to give his appreciation and thanks to his godchildren, Randy Gallet and Ronta Bellard for helping with all his needs. The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Betty Malveaux, Vicky Castille, and Sue Meche, for the compassionate care given to Horace. Also, special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff with Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
