Inez Boustany Karre'

A Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at a 11:00 a.m. for Inez Boustany Karre', age 86, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Reverend Father Michael J. Russo, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery on Carmel Drive. Survivors include her six children, Karen Karre' Fontenot and her husband Dr. Bennett P. Fontenot, Albert M. Karre', Jr. and his wife Lisa Breaux Karre', Kathleen Karre' Adley and her husband Michael W. Adley, Kay Karre' Gautreaux and her husband G. Mitchell Gautreaux, all of Lafayette; Karla Karre' Poshedly and her husband Kenneth T. Poshedly of Snellville, Georgia, and Karoline Karre' Rees and her husband David J. Rees, Jr. of Baton Rouge; her sister, Mariam Boustany Buttross and her husband Ernest Buttross of Canton, Mississippi; two brothers, Dr. Michael E. Boustany, Sr. and Antoine F. Boustany of Lafayette; sister-in-law Madlyn Boustany Hilliard of Lafayette, and brother-in-law, Alphonse Buttross of Natchez, MS. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Dr. Bennett B. Fontenot, Katherine Fontenot, Elizabeth Fontenot, Kathleen Adley, Michael Adley, Elizabeth Adley, Joseph Karre', Justin Poshedly, Yvette Poshedly, Victoria Rees, Brian Rees, Michelle Gautreaux and Matthew Gautreaux. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Albert M. Karre', Sr.; parents Alfred F. Boustany and Florida Saloom Boustany; one sister, Yvonne Boustany Buttross; one brother, Dr. Charles Boustany, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Helen Boustany, Anne Boustany, Helen Karre Buttross and Dorothy Karre; and brothers in-law, Joseph Buttross, Sr. and Alfred Karre. Mrs. Karre' was born on February 1, 1924 in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Lafayette, and Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. At an early age, she demonstrated a great business acumen and worked side by side with her father in Boustany's Department Store while her brothers were away at war. She showed exceptional ingenuity as a purchaser, combining her degree in Home Economics with her natural intuition regarding clothing style. Together with her husband, Albert, she raised and educated six children, preaching education and hard work. She always believed that women should stand equally with men in the workplace and that regardless of whether you were active in business, education was an essential element in giving a person autonomy and personal pride. After raising her family, she embarked on her second career as a real estate developer, known by many contractors and business owners as Mary Agnes Karre.' She was a good advisor to other women on how to succeed in business and always believed in preaching a positive message when pursuing your business dream. She was selected as a 2010 Woman of Excellence for her contributions to the community in the area of business, industry and professional. She was to receive the award this October. She was very proud of her Lebanese heritage and was an outstanding cook of traditional Lebanese food, as well as all other foods native to the Acadiana area. She and her husband Albert were avid LSU fans and they traveled to home and away games with equal zeal. Her real pride and joy were her 13 grandchildren, whom she loved and encouraged throughout the years. In her later years, Ms. Karre' enjoyed the company of her close friends Jeanne Authement and Margie Grimmer, with whom she enjoyed dining out, going to the casino, playing pokeno or simply visiting. The family wishes to extend thanks to Dr. Michael Vanderlick, Dr. Leo DeAlvare, Dr. Mike Mounir, Dr. Jeannette Chassaignac, Dr. Morris S. Hoffpauir, and Dr. Gary Guidry for their medical expertise, and also to the nurses and staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center ICU unit. Special thanks goes to Mrs. Karre's kind caregivers, Tressa Francois Antoine, Stacy Narcisse, Geraldine Porter, Geraldine Pellerin, Christine Bernard, Roxanne Guidry, and Marilyn Pickney Livingston. Pallbearers will be her son Albert M. Karre', Jr., and son-in-laws Dr. Bennett P. Fontenot, Michael W. Adley, David J. Rees, Jr., G. Mitchell Gautreaux and Kenneth T. Poshedly. Honorary pallbearers are her brothers Dr. Michael E. Boustany, Sr. and Antoine F. Boustany. Readers will be granddaughters Katherine Fontenot and Kathleen Adley. Offertory gift bearers will be her granddaughters, Elizabeth Fontenot, Victoria Rees, Elizabeth Adley, Yvette Poshedly, and Michelle Gautreaux. Altar server is her grandson, Justin Poshedly. The family requests that visitation be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home located at 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana 70506, on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m., and visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass.
