Ivy Jean Prejean

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2024 for Ivy Jean Hale Prejean, 86, who passed away on June 28, 2024. For those wishing to attend, please call the funeral home for the address of where the services will be held. Tawanda Amos, Chaplain with Hospice of Acadiana, will officiate the services. Mrs. Prejean, a resident of Carencro, was the daughter of the late O.B. Hale and the former Sarah Ann Meeks. She was born in Rayville, Louisiana on May 27, 1938 and graduated from high school in New Iberia, Louisiana, in 1956, where among other things, she was a cheerleader. Ivy worked in several industries including hospitality, auto rental, oil, and retail; has lived in several states and countries, including Texas, Louisiana, Connecticut, Minnesota and Australia. She enjoyed cooking, travel, gardening and children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also volunteered as a trained CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for at risk children in Waterbury, CT and Orange, TX. She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, W. Dale Prejean; daughters, Leisa McMichael, Crystal DeMoura, and Wendy Begnaud; son Todd Weathersby; grandchildren, Patrick McMichael, Caryn Adams, Kelly McMichael, Allen DeMoura, Katelyn Petit, Melissa Stasica, John DeMoura, Philip DeMoura, Lindsay Weathersby, Sarah Trahan, Dylan Trahan, Andrew Weathersby, and Miles Weathersby ; great-grandchildren, Salvador Petit, Dominic Petit, Nina Petit, Darcy Petit, Orson DeMoura, Isabella McMichael, Jacey Blanton, and Aubrey Blanton; sisters, Faye Hale McDuff (Charlie) and Nancy Hale McLain (Tony); brothers, Randy Hale (Leslie) and Desmond Hale (Phyllis). She was preceded in death by her son, Brad Weathersby; parents, O.B. and Sarah Hale; and sister, Ray Hale Friend. Special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana staff and associated personnel for extremely sensitive, kind, and professional services rendered to Ivy in her time of need.
