James "Jimmy" Allen Martin

Graveside Service will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 1:30pm in Fountain Memorial Gardens Mausoleum for James "Jimmy" Martin, 65, who passed away unexpected after a brief illness on September 3, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Jimmy, a lifelong resident of Lafayette, was the son of the Malcolm Martin and the former Ruby Bridges. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Melanie Bienvenu Martin; son, Malcolm "Max" Martin and wife Shauna; grandson, Alexander Bridges Martin; parents, Malcolm A. Martin and Ruby B. Martin; brother, Danny Martin and wife Candy; sisters, Carolyn Martin and Katherine Jones and husband George; aunts, Rona, Doris, Phooney; uncle, J.P. Martin; sister-in-laws, Sheila Lawler, Denise Bienvenu, Niki Cooper; brother-in-law Terry Bienvenu and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his aunt and godmother, Zoe “Little bib” Bolton and uncles, Billy Bolton and Orel Bridges; paternal grandparents, Sidney and Mable Martin and his maternal grandparents, Orel and Zoe Marie Bridges. Jimmy loved hunting, fishing, crabbing, crawfishing and the great outdoors all his life. He enjoyed the camaraderie of fantasy football with his friends. Mardi Gras was his favorite time of the year. He was a member of Krewe of Bonaparte for nearly forty years and especially enjoyed being float captain for the last thirty years. Jimmy was an excellent cook. He took great pleasure cooking at home and at the camp. His best dishes were crawfish etouffee and barbeque. Jimmy took great pride in co-founding and co-owning Martin Pipe, which is an oil service company, established in 1968. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand from 1:30PM until 6:30PM. Pallbearers will be Mark Fontenot, Rob Martin, Ryan Martin, Ron Naomi, Paul Broussard, Lou Rigaud, and Richard Comeaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Martin, Richard Blum, Kyle Naomi, George Billeaud, DDS, Lawrence Bergeron, brother-in-laws Terry Bienvenu, Salah Mansour and Bruce Lawler. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the medical teams at the Heart Hospital of Lafayette and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
