James Thompson Listi

Funeral Services will be held at a 3:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for James "Jimmy" Thompson Listi, 65, who passed away on November 29, 2009 at 9:40 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Gift bearers will be Jessica Gerami and Victoria Munchrath, Lectors will be Patsy Mouton and May Olivier. Eulogist will be Edward Fremin. Entombment will take place in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Jimmy, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Sheriff Carlo P. Listi and the former Rose LeBlanc Listi. His favorite past time was bowling and he was a huge fan of Elvis Presley movies and music. Jimmy was one of the first members of the Lafayette Association of Retarded Citizens. He started off at the Johnny Scott Center then moved on to the New Hope Center. He participated through LARC at Acadian Village and was one of the first citizens to go to a group home, he eventually ended up residing at Magnolia Estates. He is survived by his mother, Rose Listi of Lafayette; two sisters, Carla Listi Gerami and her husband Gerald of Lafayette, and Jill Listi Munchrath and husband Dwight of Lafayette; one brother, Corey Listi of Lafayette; eight nieces and nephews, Jessica Gerami, Cooper Gerami, Victoria Munchrath, Conner Munchrath, Carter Munchrath, Tyler Listi, Brock Listi, and Asa Listi. He was preceded in death by his father, Sheriff Carlo P. Listi and his maternal grandmother, Hilda Petitjean LeBlanc. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Tuesday from 11:00 am until service time. A Rosary will be recited on Monday at 6:30 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Dwight Munchrath, Gerald Gerami, Cooper Gerami, Tyler Listi, Brock Listi, Conner Munchrath and Carter Munchrath. Honorary pallbearers will be OJ Leblanc, Edgar G.
