James C. Theaux

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Church in Lafayette for James 'Jimmy' Carroll Theaux, 63, who passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Sunday January 25, 2009 at a Lafayette hospital. Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Mr Theaux, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late John Leo Theaux, Sr. of Broussard, LA and the former Georgie Vignes of Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Theaux graduated from Northside High School in 1963, then attended USL, now ULL. He served six years with Louisiana Army National, with two medals of honor from the Governor for distinguished services. He was also the owner and operator of Theaux's Auto Sales since 1969. He enjoyed politics and was involved with Concerned Citizens for Good Government. He served as commissioner-in-charge for several elections and was appointed by the Mayor and Town Council as representative to Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for the Town of Broussard. In addition, he served as Councilman for District 1 in Broussard, LA and ran for State Representative for District 44. He is survived by special friend, Alida Richards of Youngsville, LA; mother of his children, Aline Babineaux Zara of Lindenhurst, IL; two daughters, Jennifer Hakko and husband Kevin of Cleveland, OH, and Jamie Debaillon and husband Chris of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Jaclyn and Erika Hakko and Jenna Debaillon; two sisters, Mildred "Millie" Cates of Lafayette, LA, and Emily Simon and husband Joe of Youngsville, LA; one brother, Cecil R. Theaux and special friend Therese Haywood of Lafayette, LA. He was preceded in death by his his parents; his grandparents, Arthur and Ray B. Theaux; one sister, Barbara Ann Theaux Clark, and two brothers, George Ray Theaux, Sr., and John Leo "Boo" Theaux, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Cecil R. Theaux, Joe Simon, Colby Talbot, Shar Clark, Jason Theaux and Christopher Debaillon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Theaux, Ray Theaux, Jr., Sgt. Lance Richards, Thomas Meador and Michael Moss. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in the name of James Theaux to St. Cecilia Catholic School or Teurlings Catholic High School.
