Jean Gorr Crawford Frazell

Jean Gorr Crawford Frazell, a longtime resident of Lafayette, died peacefully at her home on April 17, 2011. She was born to Jessie Tracy Gorr and John Allison Gorr on October 26, 1921 in Lafayette. She graduated from Terrebonne High School in Houma, Louisiana and began her work career with the telephone company. She met and later married her first husband, Adolph 'Slim' Harrison Crawford. They resided in Shreveport for 10 years and then returned to Lafayette in 1956. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Junior League of Shreveport, a member of the Lafayette Service League and a founding member of the Junior League of Lafayette. She was also a member of L'Heure d'Amitie' serving two terms as President. Additionally, she was a member of the Lafayette Geological Society, Galvez Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a charter member of the Krewe of Attakapas. She was employed as the executive assistant for Louis Michot during his term as Superintendent of Education and later employed at Dupre' Library at ULL until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Adolph 'Slim' Crawford and her second husband, W. D. 'Dick' Frazell, sister Marjorie Tracy Gorr Morgan, brother Johnny Gorr, and step-son Richard Allen Frazell. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Crawford, Baton Rouge, son and daughter in law, John and Ann Crawford of Kingwood, Texas, step sons William Alton Frazell of Austin, Texas and Donald Albert Frazell of San Francisco, California and two granddaughters, Megan Elizabeth Crawford of Houston and Robin Tarver Frazell of Austin. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care provided by her caretakers: Betty Broussard, Dorothy Helaire, Alma Sinegal, Barbara Singleton, Lucille Thibeaux, Rose Thomas and Sylvia Briscoe. Visitation will be at Delhomme Funeral Home on Friday, April 22nd from 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday from 10 am until services at 11 am. Christian Burial will be at Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
