Jeannette Leblanc Broussard

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Walter R. "NuNu" Broussard, the former Jeannette LeBlanc, 78, will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Milton, with the Rev. William Gearheard officiating. Visitation will be at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice beginning on Sunday, December 14, 3:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 10:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Jeannette and NuNu have always been best known as the owners of Broussard's Supermarket, the original "NuNu's" in Milton, NuNu's Fresh Market in Youngsville, T-NuNu's on the corner in Milton, and the internationally distributed NuNu's Cajun Seasoning. Generations of Milton residents grew up seeing Miss Jeannette's greeting them with a smile at the "the store," and many were hired for their first real job by Jeannette and NuNu. Mrs. Jeannette was the heart of NuNu's; therefore, the memories of her special love for her customers, employees, friends, and family, will be cherished. After an extended 16-year battle with breast cancer, Mrs. Broussard passed away peacefully at her home in Milton on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 11:45 a.m. She was an inspiration to many fighting cancer because of her incredible will to live and the fighting spirit she carried with her until the end. Her bright eyes and laughter never dimmed, and her courage never wavered. Her life was a beautiful lesson in how to live and, maybe even more importantly, how to die. Through her strong faith, the prayers of untold numbers of adoring friends and family along with her doctors? care, Mrs. Broussard was able to survive long beyond her original prognosis. She spent the later years of her life attending church, caring lovingly for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking her specialty dishes for family gatherings, and creating unique rosaries and articles of jewelry. She was a parishioner of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, and an active member of the Ladies Alter Society. Mrs. Broussard is survived her husband, Walter "NuNu" Broussard; by her daughters, Arleen Choate and husband David, and Tamra Broussard; her sons, Daren Broussard, and Blaine Broussard and wife Tyree all of Milton; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita LeBlanc and husband Mayo of Bridge City, TX, and Cle`Anne Burke and husband Sonny of LeBlanc, LA; one brother, Walter LeBlanc and wife Kirby of Lafayette. A native of LeBlanc, Mrs. Broussard was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre Obey LeBlanc and Laura Bernard LeBlanc. The family would like to especially recognize her dear friend Delores Benoit, and her beloved sisters-in-law for their years of devotion and love to their mother. The family also acknowledges and thanks to immeasurable Heart of Hospice staff, especially Melissa Jacobs, Danielle Reed, Leah Lomenick, Donna Morgan, and her caring sitter Judy Bourque.
