Jes'us Angel Verdugo

On Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Texas Heart Institute, Jes'us A. Verdugo, 66, with his family at his side, made a peaceful transition from this world to his home in Heaven. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Broussard. Reverend Bert Langley and Reverend Weldon Moak will officiate. Mr. Verdugo, a native of Madrid, Spain, was the son of the late Carlos Verdugo and the former Ana Vila. Jes'us moved here from Spain 35 years ago. He had a zest for life that kept him fighting a battle with heart disease that most of us would have lost years earlier. Jes'us was extremely proud of his Spanish heritage and was a very patriotic American as well. The best word to describe Jes'us is EXUBERANT. He worked in the oil industry for many years. With his boundless energy and much hard work, Jes'us started two successful local businesses, JV Oilfield Rentals and Pressure Control Specialties. He loved to 'hold court' at the Petroleum Club where he was able to expound on almost any issue. Jes'us was a fantastic chef and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He liked to experiment with exotic ingredients and specialized in Spanish dishes. Jes'us chose to worship with his wife, Sherryl, at First Baptist Church in Broussard. A beloved husband, father and grandfather; he was loved by all who knew him. If you were a friend of Jes'us, you had a friend for life. Survivors include his dedicated wife, Sherryl Milner Verdugo; three daughters, Kelly Belote and husband, Martin, Dana Verdugo, Patricia Verdugo; son, Paul Verdugo; step-son Dirk Odom. He is also survived by nine grandchildren who are going to miss their 'Buelo'; Beau and Jacob Landry, Jordon and Cameron Belote, Danielle Tourney, Gabriela Gonzalez, Lindsey and Kyle Verdugo, Tanner Powell. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Louise Milner, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Vicki Milner, Jerry and Cindy Milner, and Mike and Carol Regan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ana Vila and Carlos Verdugo of Spain. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM till service time Pallbearers will include Bryan Babin, Paul Trahan, Aaron Hickman, James Hickman, Beau Landry, and Jason Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers will be PCS employees, The Gang at the Petroleum Club, Dr. Jeff Lousteau and Kerrie Bertsch.
