Funeral Services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church for Jessie James Guidry, 79, who passed away on November 17, 2012 at 3:20 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Reverend Mario Romero, Pastor of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in the Mausoleum of the Resurrection at Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Guidry, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Ovey Paul Guidry of Duson, Louisiana and the former Winnie Credeur of Rayne, Louisiana. He was a 1952 graduate of Scott High School. He married Ruby Sonnier on July 28, 1956. His military service was from 1954 to 1956 in the Army and included service in the Korean War. He was a member of Farm Bureau, and Woodmen of the World. He had worked for the Telephone Company and AT & T for 33 years retiring in 1989. His hobbies included raising cattle, growing vegetables and flowers. His grandchildren were the joy of his life and he was involved in everything they did. He is survived by his wife Ruby S. Guidry; his daughters, Shelia G. Bourque and husband Richard, Angelia G. Chachere and husband Lloyd, Clarissa G. Lard and husband Steve; his grandchildren, Taylor Bourque, Lloyd Everett, Blake and Jessica Chachere, Meagan and Sidney Lard; his two great grandchildren, Boston Bourque and Jessie Chachere; his sisters; Lou Ella G. Savoy and Tammy Guidry; his brothers; Roland, William, Wilbert, Murphy, and Patrick Guidry. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Scott Monday, November 19, 2012 from 2:00 pm until the time of service. The funeral home will remain open all night. A French rosary will be prayed Monday at 4:00 pm and a rosary will be prayed in English at 7:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Richard Bourque, Lloyd Edmond Chachere, Taylor Bourque, Lloyd Everett Chachere, Blake Chachere, Murphy Guidry, Brent Sonnier, Scott Bourgeois.
