John Mabry Bourque

John Mabry Bourque passed away on March 5, 2025, at the age of 83 in Lafayette, LA. John was born on July 4, 1941, and will be remembered as a vibrant soul who was always the life of the party and ready for a laugh. John dedicated over 50 years to his career as a welder, taking pride in his craftsmanship and the integrity of his work. His jovial nature extended beyond the workplace, as he was an active member of the local Coffee Club, where he and friends would engage in light-hearted debates and "solve the world's problems." John's hobbies included spending quality time with his family and friends and having fun. He took pleasure in the simple joys like mowing his lawn, tending his garden, riding his tractor, and boasting about his grandchildren's achievements. Family was the cornerstone of John's life. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his daughter, Allison and her husband Shaun; brother, Jean Bradley and his cherished grandchildren, Tucker, Grace, Janae, Shaun Jr, and Alejandro who were the highlight of his life; and countless nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paulin and Lucia Bourque; his daughter, Darra; and siblings Larfize, Lois, Lucille, Howard, Edward, Roy, Annabelle, Joseph, Louis, Paulin Jr and Phillip John. His family would like to thank the countless medical professionals who cared so beautifully for him, namely nurse Sarah at Heart Hospital, nurse Lea from Southern Grace Hospice, and nurse Leah from Calcutta House. His family would also like to thank First Option Home Health, Southern Grace Hospice and the Calcutta House for the exquisite and compassionate care he received. Each made his journey lighter and prepared him for a peaceful transition. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Bourque, Doug Bourque, Mark Gallagher, Shaun Tichenor, Tucker Savoy and Ross Keogh. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Cormier, Ricky Gay, Timmy Bourque and the members of the Coffee Club. The visitation, in honor of John's life, will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand beginning at 10:00 AM. A Rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 2 :00 PM officiated by Fr. Francois Ste Marie. Personal condolences may be sent to the family of John M.
