John Burvick Foret

Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for John Burvick Foret, 71, who passed away on August 11, 2011 at 4:29 PM at Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend Wayne LeBleu, Pastor of Christ the King Church, will conduct the funeral services. Mr. Foret, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Edison Foret of Ville Platte, Louisiana and the former Lucille Ortego of Ville Platte, Louisiana. In 1967, Burvick was promoted to District Manager for Union National Life Insurance. He and his wife Betty moved to Meridian, Ms where they soon started a family. In 1991 that position lead him back home to Louisiana rebuilding the district for Lake Charles and moving to Lafayette, LA where he would later retire. During that time he was an avid golfer; highlights include a golfing trip to Scotland and he even played at Augusta, GA home of the Masters. He retired in 2000 after 34 years as District Manager. He especially loved Saturday nights watching the Tigers play and listening to Hawthorne call the game. He was also a true Saints fan, he always Believed! Once Burvick retired he declared everyday was "Saturday", he spent those Saturdays with his wife at the "Taj Mahal" the Camp in Lake Arthur; he enjoyed cooking a good sauce on the porch, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids, especially his hunting partner Zoie. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Roberie Foret; two sons, John Foret and wife Lisa of Lake Charles, LA and Eddie Foret and wife Yvette of Erath, LA; one brother, Kenneth Foret and wife Dianna of Opelousas, LA; five grandchildren, Ethan Bouillion, Emma Bouillion, Trinity Foret, John Noah Foret and Christian Osburn; and his hunting partner Zoie. He was a wonderful husband, dad, papa and friend with that he was definitely one of a kind. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 10:00 am until the time of services.
