Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, April 14, 2014 in Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for John George Hutchinson, 74, who passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 8:45 am at his residence in Lafayette, LA. Deacon Jay Bergeron, will conduct the funeral services. John Hutchinson, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late Leonard Hutchinson and the former Rhoda Logan. John was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He served his country with honor, in the special forces of the Air Force Commandos in Vietnam. He never received formal recognition of his service due to the covert nature, but performed tasks warranting recognition. John's passion was working with adolescents throughout his coaching career. His dedication as an educator helped students achieve their full potential. John stood firm in his belief in his country and his values, sharing his vision with today's youth guiding them to complete their education. In his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren Anna and Jacob, and also his K-9 companion, Bingo. He cherished the time spent with his brother, Ford. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty two years, Carolyn Hebert Hutchinson; his sons, John Mark Hutchinson and Glen Alan Hutchinson; two grandchildren Jacob and Anna Hutchinson; his brother, B. Edward Ford. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Stephen Hutchinson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive, on Monday April 14, 2014 from 5:00 pm until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm Monday in the Chapel. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Gachassin, Dr. Kaufman, Dr. Cain, Dr. Meza and their dedicated staff, Lauren, Joan and Alyson.
