John David "Dave" Morley

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in Delhomme Funeral Home's Chapel of the Flowers for John David "Dave" Morley, 82, who passed away on March 10, 2025. Fr. William Schambough, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services. The burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Mr. Morley, a resident of Scott, was the son of the late John Murden Morley and the former Avidine Crabtree. Born and raised in Detroit, Dave joined the Army right out of high school. After serving 4 years in the Army, he then joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in New Orleans. It was there that Dave fell in love with the people and culture of Louisiana. Following his time in the Coast Guard, he was hired on with Bellsouth Telecommunications (now AT&T), eventually retiring in 2002. Dave fully pursued his love of woodworking after his retirement. A master craftsman, Dave could build anything he set his sight on; some say he could build a house from memory alone! In 1979, he met his lovely wife, Charmain, in Lafayette and together they raised their beautiful family. He loved watching his son & grandchildren play sports. Dave spent many hours watching home improvement shows with his daughter, Cassie, which in turn drove her to her profession in construction. He instilled a strong work ethic and drive in his children, but tempered with a goofy sense of humor. Dave loved to make people smile & laugh, and never turned down an opportunity to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Charmain Marie Reaux Morley; children, Rhonda Morley Turk, Cassondra Young (Ted) Bauer, and Austin (Claire) Morley; grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Pelltier, Taylor Michael Clement, Jordan Dean (Danica) Morley, David John Morley, Elijah Joseph Morley, and Aiden Michael Morley; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Marie Morley, Victoria Pelltier, Brandon Pelltier, Wyatt Pelltier, and Lyle Pelltier; siblings, Barbara Morley (Lewis) Martin, Nancy Morley Klatzke, and Judy Morley Robertson; sisters-in-law, Rog Anna (Michael) Garrett and Karen Skinner Reaux; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, John David Morley, Jr; parents, John and Avidine Morley; and sister, Vera Morley (Shirley) Gaw. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 8:00 AM until the time of service. The pallbearers will be Austin Morley, Jordan Morley, Taylor Clement, Brad Reaux, Ted Bauer, and Trey Brunt. The honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Garrett, David Morley, Elijah Morley, and Aiden Morley.
