John Conner Yeager

At 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, the Lord reached out His hand to John Conner Yeager, 81, and John took His hand. He was at home in Lafayette with his wife, Saundra. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Trinity Bible Church, 130 E Broussard Rd, Lafayette, LA, 70506. Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be conducted by John's family and Dennis Malcolm, pastor of Trinity Bible Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas. John grew up in Texas and graduated from Paris High School at age 16. He attended Paris Jr. College and graduated with a certificate in High School Industrial Arts. He attended U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School and served on a destroyer in the Pacific during the Korean Conflict. After discharge from the Navy, John went to the University of Texas on the GI Bill and graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Geology. He worked as a geologist for over 50 years in Midland, TX, Tulsa, OK, Los Angeles, CA, New Orleans, LA, and Lafayette, LA. He retired from both Union Oil of CA and Arco and worked as a consultant in Lafayette with partner and friend, the late Doug Gardner. He retired from work and was, soon after, diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Saundra thanks Dr, Michael Ondo, neurologist, University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, TX for his dedicated kind, gentle and generous care. John also taught pre-schoolers in Sunday School for several years at Grace Presbyterian Church and Trinity Bible Church, both in Lafayette, LA John was the father of 4 and grandfather of 3. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Saundra Vernell Russell Yeager, Lafayette, LA; his son, Russell Flinn Yeager and his wife, Kay Elizabeth "Pidge" Burt Yeager, Austin, TX.; his two daughters, Katherine Gay Yeager Huggins and her husband, Don Huggins, Houston, TX., and Ann Elizabeth Yeager, Carencro, LA. He is also survived by his three WONDERFUL grandchildren, Luke Conner Yeager, Rebecca "Becca" Flinn Yeager and Lillian Elizabeth "Lilly" Yeager all of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, John OlenYeager and Mildred Louise Whittington Yeager, and his daughter, Adrienne Ann Yeager. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Peirce, Bob Kulbeth, Mark Thomas, Chuck Reeves, Marti Thomas, Susan Smith, Barbara Quebedeaux, Karen Kulbeth and Susan Malcolm, all of Trinity Bible Church and all who loved John very much.
