Joseph Ludwigs Gallet

services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Joseph Ludgwigs Gallet, 80, who passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at his residence. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Milton, La. Very Rev. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, JCL will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Mr. Gallet, the son of Etienne Gallet and the former Louisa Bourque, was a native of Milton and a resident of Lafayette. He was known to friends and family as: Boone, Peter, Pop or Joe. He was a veteran of the military, having served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of VFW Post 9822. Mr. Gallet retired from Gulf States Utility in 1986 after 36 years of service doing electrical work. He worked part time at Carquest Auto Parts for the last 15 years. Mr. Gallet was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was a good friend to all who knew him and was always willing to help anyone, especially with his electrical experience. In his free time, he enjoyed watching his beloved Atlanta Braves, gardening and spending time in 'the country'. He played softball and was an avid bowler for many years. He will be remembered for his hard work, unselfishness, joyous spirit and love of life. To know him was to love him. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Melba Landry Gallet; two sons, Gerald Gallet and companion, Patricia Ipson of Scott, and Kirk Gallet and companion, Lori Trahan of Lafayette; Three grandchildren, Travis Gallet and wife, Shelley, Jeri Gallet Carrier and husband, James, and Shane Gallet; three great-grandchildren, Abby Carrier, Kye Carrier, Lauren Gallet and one is expected in April, 2007, Caroline Gallet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Etienne and Louisa Bourque Gallet, Brothers, Vernice Gallet and Jean B. Gallet; and sister-in-law, Cecile Gallet. Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday in the funeral home at 7:00 pm by Deacon Art Bakeler. Pallbearers will be Travis Gallet, Shane Gallet, Troy Gallet, Jay Gallet, James Carrier, and Tommy Gallet. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Gallet, Joseph Boudreaux, Dimitri Begnaud, Ryan Ipson, Jimmy Comeaux, and Kenneth Huval.
