Joseph "Joe" Pere' Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church - Kaplan for Joseph "Joe" Pere' Sr., 75, who passed away on July 21, 2025. Reverend Joshua Guillory, JCL will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Kaplan. Joe, affectionately known as Joey by many of his loved ones, lived life with an open heart and an easy smile. He never met a stranger — his kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. A devoted member of his community, Joe gave freely of his time and energy. For many years, he served as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts, mentoring countless young men and cherishing every camping trip and outdoor adventure. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, serving faithfully as Program Director for many of those years. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him. Joe’s life was deeply rooted in his Catholic faith. He attended Mass regularly and served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister, a role he embraced with reverence and humility. His quiet strength and spiritual devotion were evident in the way he lived and cared for others. Joe’s generosity of spirit and deep commitment to faith, family, and service made him a beloved friend, mentor, and role model. His legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew him. Joe, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late John Maurice Pere', Sr. and the former Lucille Greene. He is survived by his son, Jo-Jo Pere'; grandson, Ryker; and siblings, John Pere', Jr., Judy Harrington and Melissa Pere'. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 46 years, Nita Marie Landry Pere'; and siblings, Gloria Eleazar, George Pere', and Helen LaGrange. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Maurice on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 AM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jude Michael Pere' Gooch, Elijah Gooch, Keith Blanchard, Brandon Trahan, Shawn LaValley, and Cullen Richard.
