Joseph Vidrine

Funeral Services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Joseph Vidrine, 87, who passed away on September 30, 2009 at 8:10 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. Reverend Dan Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Vidrine, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Remy Vidrine of Ville Platte, LA and the former Clothile Dupre of Ville Platte, LA. Joseph was a member of St. Jules Church. After being a bugler in the army, he was a farmer and then became a welder in the shipyards. He was the first employee of Reamco. After retiring from welding, he worked at Vermillionville as a craft person making fiddles. He loved to tell jokes but could never finish them because he was lauging too much. He is survived by four daughters, Diana Cormier and her husband Ova from Branch, LA, Cheryl Broussard and her husband Glenn of Lafayette, LA, Monica Clingman and her husband Jim of Dallas, TX, and Lisa Miller of Eunice, LA; one son, Byron Vidrine of New Iberia, LA; ten grandchildren, Michelle Barron, Jarrod Mouton, Jodi Broussard, Bryan Broussard, Christina Delcambre, Barrett Vidrine, Megan Bednor, Lauren Warner, Mitzi Miller, and Jeanne Miller; ten great grandchildren, Devin Lanclos, Caleb Lanclos, Jayce Barron, Miranda Barron, Kristen Mouton, Eryahn Mouton, Gavin Broussard, Ava Grace Broussard, Holden Soileau, and Alexander Bednor; two sisters, Mena Ortego of Ville Platte, LA, and Alice Guillory of Iowa, LA; one brother, Jesse Vidrine of Kaplan, LA. He was preceded in death by his his wife Eula Jeanise Vidrine, one son Mark Vidrine, his parents, three sisters, and four brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 pm Pallbearers will be Jim Clingman, Glenn Broussard, Ova Cormier, Jarrod Mouton, Bryan Broussard and Barrrett Vidrine.
