Joyce Love Broussard

Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 3, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Joyce Love Broussard, 74, who passed away on April 29, 2010 at 4:20 pm at her residence. Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Mrs. Broussard, a resident of Maurice, LA, was the daughter of the late Rexie Hebert and the former Olite Meaux both of Kaplan, Louisiana. A devoted wife and mother, Joyce lived her life helping family, friends and her community. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Altar Society, Resurrection Choir, and she took great joy and pride in coordinating the ads for the St. Alphonsus bulletin. She lived everyday with boundless energy, always serving others and always opening her home to any and everyone to enjoy a cup of coffee, her blue glass collection and any number of treats from her kitchen. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Willie Andre' Broussard; three daughters, Gwendolyn Broussard (Gabby) of Maurice, Diana B. Eppard and husband Larry of Dallas, TX and Phyllis Annie Kananack of Maurice; four sons, M. Garrett Broussard of Lafayette, Bryan A. Broussard and wife Twyla of Ocala FL, Damian P. Broussard of Lafayette and Rexie C. Broussard and wife Kathryn of Lafayette; sixteen grandchildren, Brandt Broussard, Heidi Broussard, Callie Broussard, Jordan Broussard, Chloe Broussard, Andre Broussard, Gage Broussard, Rheece Broussard, Jack Eppard, Lily Eppard, Travis Kananack, Quinn Kananack, Dashiell Kananack, Chase Kananack, Austin Broussard and Morgan Broussard; two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth E. Sumpter and Stephanie Eppard; two step-great grandchildren, Cade and Trevor Sumpter; two sisters, Wanda LeBoeuf and husband Walter of Kaplan and Shirley Mhire and husband Thomas of Lafayette and godchild, Thomas G. Mhire, II . She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ouida Duhon, three god-children, Glynn Duhon, Rodessa Marceaux and Donna Childree, and her son-in-law, Michael Kananack. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until the time of the service. Pallbearers will be M. Garrett Broussard, Bryan Broussard, Damian Broussard, Rexie Broussard, Larry Eppard and Thomas Mhire, Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana at 2600 Johnston Street, Ste 200, Lafayette, LA, 70503.
