Juanita Begnaud

Funeral Services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Juanita Robichaux Begnaud, 86, who passed away on June 22, 2013 at 3:40 pm at Maison de Lafayette. Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Scott. Mrs. Begnaud, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Joseph Robichaux and the former Lavinia Boudreaux. In 1997 she retired from Hamilton Medical Group after many years of service as an operator. She was a member of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Church Parish and a former volunteer of the St. Joseph Diner. Juanita had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for her plants. She enjoyed playing cards, swimming, fishing and dining with friends and family. She will be remembered for her generosity, self sacrifice, love of family and last but not least, her "joie de vivre". She is survived by two daughters, Pat B. Carroll of Lafayette, LA and Betty B. Long of Orange, TX; two sons, Jerome L. Begnaud and wife Lynda of Waxahachie, TX and Thomas J. Begnaud and wife Angie of Lafayette, LA; seven grandchildren, Christie Wright, Nickie Wolfe, Dallas Begnaud, Carmen McBride, Aaron Long, Timothy Long and Adam Begnaud; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Henrietta Romero, Dardenella Folse and Dolores Pothier all of Lafayette, LA; and one sister-in-law, Rose Mary Robichaux of Lafayette, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years, J. Louis Begnaud, three sisters and three brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited by her niece, Brenda Knight at 6:00 pm on Monday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Tuesday from 8:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Dallas Begnaud, Adam Begnaud, Aaron Long, Timothy Long, Kevin Wright and Scott McBride. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Begnaud's name to Alzheimer’s Association,910 Pierremont Road, Ste. 410, Shreveport, LA 71106 or to a charity of your choice.
