Judith E. Rashid Perrin Johnson

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 30, 2024 in St. Mary Mother of the Church for Judith Ellen Rashid Perrin Johnson, 80, who passed away on August 26, 2024, following a recent diagnosis of cancer. Fr. Cedric Sonnier, Pastor of St. Mary Mother of the Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum. Mrs. Johnson was born March 27, 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska to Aneice John Rashid and Edna Germer Rashid. She grew up in Omaha, NE, married her first husband, Richard, and had her first daughter. Richard was tragically killed in the Vietnam War. Several years later she married her second husband, Donald, who was the father of her other three daughters. The growing family lived in several places throughout the country including Nebraska, Nevada, Kansas, and then finally settled in Lafayette, LA in 1978. Over the years, Judy was always the quintessential salesperson and was at various times a sales representative for Home Interiors, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and Avon as well as working at Abdalla's and Partner's. Her crowning business achievement was building, owning, and operating a beloved local business with her husband - they were the original owners of Kart Ranch, a family fun center. Her legacy is one of family, faith, hard work, strength, and perseverance. Judy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Memaw, great-Memaw, sister, aunt, and friend. In 2018, she suffered a massive stroke, which she handled with grace and dignity, and she never lost her devout Catholic faith. Before her stroke, she enjoyed doing ceramics, shopping, playing Pokeno, going to garage sales, celebrating the holidays and spending time with her family. Judy was also a big fan of football, and enjoyed watching Nebraska, LSU, and the Saints every weekend during football season. Her family is comforted knowing that she is now resting in eternal peace with those who have gone before her. Judy taught her children and grandchildren many lessons in life, but they never learned how to live without her. Survivors include her four daughters, Kristyn Perrin Roche and husband Randy, Ali Johnson Brabner and husband Tony, Jackie Johnson Quoyeser and husband John, and Katie Johnson; her seven grandchildren, Andrew Roche and wife Liew “Lucy” Chien, Michael Roche, Gabby Brabner, Nick Brabner, Lauren Quoyeser, Ellie Grace Quoyeser, Jacob Russett; and great grandchildren, Myles Roche and Sylvie Roche. She is also survived by two sisters, Jackie Rashid Devaney and Janice Rashid and husband, Peter Dettlaff; sister-in-law, Debra Johnson; a host of beloved nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, "Junior". She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Donald "Don" E. Johnson Jr.; her first husband, Richard T. Perrin; parents, Aneice and Edna Rashid; brother, John Rashid; and two sisters, Joanne Rashid Rouse and Jeanne Rashid McElligott. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:45 PM on Friday afternoon in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Randy Roche, Tony Brabner, John Quoyeser, Andrew Roche, Michael Roche, Nick Brabner, Jacob Russett, and Peter Dettlaff. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Acadiana for the Food with Love Ministry. The family would also like to thank her devoted sister and brother-in-law, Janice Rashid and Peter Dettlaff, for their continued love, support, and care throughout the years, her physician, Thomas Voitier, MD and his nurse, Christen (our angel), for their compassionate care during her illness over the years. A special thanks also goes to her devoted and loyal caregivers, Tammy Landry, Kaylyn Barron, and Rachel Burley; the Eucharistic Ministers at St. Mary Mother of the Church: Nadine Rushing and her late husband Tim and Paula Merrill and her husband Robert; Wendy Cole with NSI Hospice; and to Kent Zerangue and Claire Thom with Food with Love, whose visits brought such joy to Judy in her final months.
