Keith Stephen Carlson

As a lover of life and the outdoors, Keith was passionate about fishing and hunting. Keith was a faith filled man and had a devotion to the Blessed Mother exemplified by his daily rosary recitation. His love for his sports activities was only preceded by his love for his entire family. Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at St. Edmond Catholic Church for Keith Stephen Carlson, 61, who passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge. Reverend Timothy Richard, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Readers will be Erica Hayes and Scott Hayes. Giftbearers will be his three sons, Stephen, Brent, and Stuart. Interment will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Carlson, a native of New Iberia and a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Allen Carlson and the former Lily Marin both of New Iberia. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years. He was employed part time with Southern Express Transportation. Keith was a parishioner at St. Edmond Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Hayes Carlson of Lafayette; his mother, Lily Carlson of Morse; three sons, Stephen Carlson of Breaux Bridge, Brent Carlson of Lafayette, and Stuart Carlson of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Conner and Abigail Carlson; two sisters, Kay Cramer of Robert's Cove, and Janet McFarlain of Crowley; and four brothers, David Carlson of Rayne, Allen Carlson of Morse, Ricky Carlson of Lake Charles, and Tommy Carlson of Morse. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gretchen Carlson; his father, Allen Carlson; and his godmother, Evelyn LaBauve. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm and continue Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be David Carlson, Allen Carlson, Ricky Carlson, Tommy Carlson, Jimmy Vincent, and Cecil Little. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew McFarlain, and Al Cramer. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday in the funeral home.
