Kenneth Jude Lopez

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 8, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Kenneth Jude Lopez, 70, who passed away at home on Thursday, February 4, 2016 surrounded by his family. Reverend Ken Domingue, Pastor of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville and Godchild of Mr. Lopez, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum. Kenneth, a lifelong resident of Lafayette, was born September, 7, 1945. He was the son of the late George Lopez and the former Marjorie Picou. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Ruth Vincent Lopez; his mother, Marjorie Grimmer; children, Tammy Yaeger and her husband, James, Jason Lopez and his wife, Tonia, Jeremy Lopez and his wife, Brandy, and Adam Lopez and his wife Sarah; grandchildren, Jessica Yaeger, Lex Abshire, Jeremy "JP" Lopez, Jr., Logan Lopez, Chelsea Yaeger, Sara Yaeger, Dustin Lopez, Addie Lopez and Grey Lopez; step grandchildren, Tyler Comeaux and Johnnie Stutes; one great grandson, Thomas Scout Abshire; three step great grandchildren, Emma Comeaux, Liem Comeaux and Jase Olivier; one brother, Dale Lopez and one sister, Debbie Ahlers. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George Lopez. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home in Maurice on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 8:00 am until time of service. Kenneth served his country as a member of the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He is a member of the VFW Post 9822, Judice. Kenneth is a retired Union Electrician and member of IBEW local union 861, Lake Charles. He was a devoted husband and loving father. He fought his battle with brain cancer the way he lived his life - with dignity, courage, and a sense of humor. The family would like to thank the staff of M.D. Anderson, Dr. Eugene Brierre and his staff, and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially JoAnne Harrington and Carolyn Fontenette. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be his children and grandchildren. We are all standing on your shoulders. Thank you for loving us so well and living a life of integrity. We Love You, Dad.
