Kenneth M. Petro

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 29, 2020 in St. Edmond Catholic Church for Kenneth Michael Petro, 63, who passed away on June 26, 2020. Fr. Gary Schexnayder will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. A private inurnment will take place in Summerfield Methodist Cemetery, Longview, TX. Kenny was born November 16, 1956 in Lafayette, LA to Joseph Petro Jr. and the former Sylvia Ashy. He was the fifth of nine children. He relished holidays and gatherings that he shared with his large, extended Lebanese family. Kenny never met a stranger. Throughout his years growing up in Lafayette, his time away in the military, and growing his business (Acadiana Auto Care), he impacted the people he met with his charismatic and loving personality. As a business owner, he served his customers with integrity and always went the extra mile. Besides being an outstanding businessman, his family saw his fun-loving and creative side. His hobbies included painting predominantly swamp scenes, outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife and family. He was a prankster and enjoyed a good laugh. Kenny’s joys in life included sunrises, Saturday morning breakfasts, walking his dog, appreciating nature (especially trees), and living life to the fullest. He was loved by everybody he had the pleasure of meeting and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Brenda Guidroz Petro; daughter, Robbie Adrienne Petro LeFevre (Matthew); daughter-in-law Laura Westra; grandchildren, Kealie A. Petro and Owen M. LeFevre; father, Joseph Petro Jr. (Edrea); father-in-law Ralph Guidroz; his brothers, Joseph Petro III (Connie), Paul Petro, George Petro (Patti); his sisters, Mary Kidder (Ronald), Freda Talbot, and Sylvia Tongate (Jacky); his aunts Cathy Petro and Beverly Ackal; his step-sister Robyn Rhodes; his step-brother Glenn Rhodes (Roanna) and John Rhodes (Yvonne); his brother-in-law’s Paul Guidroz (Gwen) and John Guidroz (Kris); his sister-in-law’s Laura Leahy (Tom) and Sara Fontana (Francis). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason M. Petro; mother, Sylvia Ashy Petro; mother-in-law Joy Guidroz; his grandparents Oscar and Mary Ashy; his grandparents Joseph and Florida Petro; his brother Greg; his sister Cynthia; his aunt Rosemarie Petro Koury; his uncle Eddie Ackal; and his brother-in-law Roger Talbot. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Monday, June 29, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be George Petro, Josh Talbot, Colby Kidder, Paul Guidroz, John Guidroz, and Matthew LeFevre. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Petro III, Paul Petro, and Trevor Kidder.
