Kirk James Reaux

Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Kirk James Reaux, 51, who passed away on August 14, 2008 in a house fire at his residence in Lafayette. Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Crowley, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens in Lafayette, Louisiana. A lifelong resident of Lafayette, Kirk had two great loves in his life, his son, Bradley Reaux and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was immensely proud of Brad's many accomplishments in soccer and recent enlistment in the U.S. Army. Kirk enjoyed camping and spending time with his family, especially playing cards and forcing them to tap out when he was winning. Kirk was currently employed by American Commercial Lines and had worked for several years at his family's business, Reaux & Son Printing. Kirk struggled with a chemical dependency for the greater part of his life. In the recent years, Kirk found the strength to fight his addiction, and made his family very proud by trying to overcome this seemingly insurmountable struggle. His family would like to extend a special thanks to the 'Hangin in There' AA support group. With their help and support, Kirk was able to enjoy several years of sobriety with his family. He is survived by his son, Bradley James Reaux of Lafayette; his three sisters, Rog Anna and her husband Michael Garrett of Baton Rouge, Charmain and Her husband Dave Morley of Scott and Karen and her husband George Skinner of Lafayette. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews, Cassie Young Bauer of Lafayette, Jude and Grady Garrett of Baton Rouge, Rachel and Paige Skinner of Lafayette and Austin Morley of Scott. He is also survived by two great-nephews, Taylor Clement of Lafayette and Jordan Morley of Scott; Two great-nieces, Rae Lyn and Lacie Garrett of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents Octa Joseph 'OJ' Reaux, Jr. and Wanda Reaux; his maternal grandparents, Ferguste and Nina Primeaux of Erath and paternal grandparents, Laurences and Octa Reaux of Erath. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, August 17, 2008 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday from 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6:00 pm. at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Greg Smith, Kent Bouillion, Richard West, Austin Morley, Trey Brunt and Robert Bouillion. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Reaux, Michael Garrett, Dave Morley, George Skinner, Jude Garrett, Grady Garrett, Danny Reeves and Ken Gordon.
