Koen Philip Langheinz

Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Koen Philip Langheinz, 12, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 24, 2025. Guests are invited to join us in sharing memories, laughter, hugs, and stories. There will be no formal service, just an opportunity for family and friends of all ages to gather and celebrate. We encourage everyone to come as they are, in comfortable and colorful attire, just like Koen preferred. To know Koen was to know pure love. His spirit soared far beyond any physical limitations. Though he could not walk, he ran straight into the hearts of everyone he met. Where words weren’t spoken, his expressive side-eye and radiant presence conveyed everything he wanted to say. His presence alone left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Koen taught us that life is not defined by what we can or cannot do, but by how deeply we love and how fully we embrace each precious moment. Koen showed us how to find joy in the smallest moments and how to laugh without inhibition. He had a remarkable gift for making the world feel brighter simply by existing in it. The weight we felt carrying you in our arms has become the weight of grief in our hearts, but that grief is simply our love for you persevering. Even though we will no longer push him physically, he will push us to go on. His smile, his energy, and his unique way of showing love will never fade. The memories he has given us, the joy, the laughter, and the lessons, will continue to live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Koen loved everyone he met, and he most cherished being the center of attention everywhere he went. Koen loved being talked to, kissed, and doted on by his family and friends. Koen’s greatest passions were his love for movies, especially animated films, and he became quite the movie critic. He loved gossip, drama, mischief, brown sugar, raspberries, kisses, expressive faces, whispered secrets (he was great at keeping them), strange noises (he could tell the difference between a real and fake fart), strong emotional outbursts (he’d laugh if you stubbed your toe), and balloons (which will adorn his urn at his celebration of life). He loved listening to Emerson practice her tuba, watching Kadence’s CYT performances, cuddles from Krewe, and hugs from Haddox. Koen viewed the world as if every single band performance, every single show, and every single concert was being put on just for him. Koen was fortunate to enjoy five remarkable seasons with his beloved baseball team, the Lafayette Little League Challengers Division. It is rumored that he holds the league record for home run bunts. Koen is survived by his parents, Dr. Kirk Philip Langheinz and Jordan Ambridge Langheinz; siblings Emerson, Kadence, Krewe, and Haddox; maternal grandmother, Jodie Hoover; paternal grandparents, Keith and Susan Langheinz; paternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Haddox; paternal aunt, Kerry Langheinz (Kyle) Raines; cousins, Keira, Kelsey, and Ella; and maternal uncle, Alexander Bozeman. Koen’s beloved companions, Dawne Batiste, Naomi Clark-Samuels, and Pamela North, also shared a profound bond with him. He was cherished by numerous great aunts, great-uncles, their children, and grandchildren. The list of special friends who became family is far too extensive to name, but Koen’s community of love extended well beyond his relatives. We are deeply thankful for his coaches and teammates in the Lafayette Little League Challengers Division, as well as the students, teachers, therapists, paraprofessionals, and staff at Woodvale Elementary, L.J. Alleman and Lafayette High School Mighty Lion Marching Band. We are also grateful for the many years of love and support provided by the staff at Ochsner Lafayette General Breast Center.
