Lana Melancon

“Be not afraid, I go before you always. Come, follow me and I will give you rest.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church for Louanna "Lana" Frame Melancon, 95, devoted mother and wife, who joined our Lord on January 19, 2025. Fr. Louis Richard will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Lana, a resident of Broussard, was the daughter of the late Dalcour Joseph Frame and the former Eugenia Bertrand. Louanna “Lana” was born on January 19, 1930 in Bayou Rouge, LA; 13th of Dalcour and Eugenia Frame's 15 children. She graduated from Palmetto High School, where she won a science award, played basketball, among many other accomplishments. In 1947, Lana became a devout Catholic, met, and then married her husband of 56 years, Roy. They lived in Maryland before moving back to Louisiana in 1949. In 1968, Lana began her mission work with the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico and continued mission work on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico and Arizona until 1981. During this time, Lana and Roy also traveled to Mexico assisting with the construction of an orphanage. Lana worked at St. Theodore of Moss Bluff for many years, then the church at Our Lady of Mercy in Henderson. She finished her work with the church at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Broussard, where she remained very active in that community. Through the years, she was involved with "Come, Lord Jesus!", "Cursillos in Christianity", and the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). Lana was an accomplished seamstress, making many wedding dresses and prom dresses for her children and her grandchildren. She was very involved in all her grandchildren & great-grandchildren's activities, from sports to dance revues, Lana was there for them all. She also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Lana was a devoted wife, mother of 6 children, disciple of Jesus, loved our mother Mary, exemplifying positivity and faithfulness, and "radiating rainbows"! She is survived by her children, Dwight (Rebecca) Melancon, Dwayne (Ann) Melancon, Gregg (Gretchen) Melancon, Doug (Becky) Melancon, Paulette Langlinais, and Beth Carle Melancon; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Roy J. Melancon; her parents, Dalcour and Eugenia Bertrand Frame; her two sons-in-law, Charles Langlinais and Dean Carle. The family requests that the visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Broussard on Saturday, January 25, 2025 beginning at 8:00 AM. A Rosary will be led by the Come Lord Jesus group at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning in the funeral home. Visitation will continue, following the Rosary, until 10:45 AM. Pallbearers will be Michael Melancon, C.J. Langlinais, Dean Carle II, Joseph Carle, Colton Carle, Brayden Hebert, Trevor Langlinais, and Austin Langlinais. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathan Melancon and Eric Goud. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, nurses, and CNA’s at Camelot of Broussard who cared for her in the last years of her life, especially Zach and Shay.
