Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church for Lawrence J. 'Brud' Menard, 64, who died Friday, February 29, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical. Center. Rev. Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott. Mr. Menard, a native of Cankton, was the son of the late Dupr' Joseph Menard and the former Mildred M. Cormier. He had been the co-owner of Best Stop for 22 years, a member of AA (alcoholics anonymous) for 22 years, a Eucharistic Minister at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, a member of Woodmen of the World, Mardi Gras King of Scott Business Association in 2003, and a supporter of the Liberty Theater in Eunice. He loved to travel in the family RV, loved to tell jokes, loved horses, and play pranks on his friends. He was very proud of his Cajun heritage. He also loved to spend time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Carral Roger Menard; his three sons, Brian A. Menard and wife, Wendy of McDonough, GA, Dr. Darrin D. Menard and wife, Lynette and Faron J. Menard all of Scott; seven grandchildren, Brandon Mouton, Tyler Menard, Lauren Menard, Mark Menard, Marissa Menard, Gregg Lawrence Menard, and Devin Menard; sister, Henrietta M. Bellard of Opelousas; brothers, Charles Menard of Lafayette and Donald Menard of Cankton. He was preceded in death by his father, Dupre' Menard; in-laws, Bertha L. and Joseph P. Roger. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and continue Monday from 8:00 AM until service time. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will include Brian Menard, Dr. Darrin D. Menard, Faron Menard, Donald Menard, Tyler Menard and Charles Menard. Honorary pallbearers will include Brandon Mouton, Gregg Menard,Mark Menard, Devin Menard, Mike Broussard, Tommy Ducharme,Robert Cormier and William Womack.
