Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at St. Joseph Church for Leona "To Toot" Broussard, 91, who passed away on May 21, 2012 at 12:00 pm at the residence of her niece, Terri B. Leleux. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services with Reverend Aaron Melancon as Con-Celebrant. Miss Broussard, daughter of the late Edier Broussard and Lorna Landry Broussard, was a native of Vermilion Parish and was a lifelong resident of the Milton community. She graduated Valedictorian in 1939 from Milton High School and furthered her education at Spencer Business College. She was employed by Toby's Oak Grove Restaurant in Lafayette as a well known waitress for 40 years until her retirement in 1989. She was a devout member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Joseph's Ladies Altar Society. She is survived by her siblings: Mrs. Louis Theo (Wilda) Bares of Woodlawn Community, Vermilion Parish, Mrs. Alton (Joyce) Schexnider of Sulphur, LA, Mrs. Jimmie (Lou Ella) Sonnier of Lafayette, LA, Mrs. Carol (Janet) Lacy of Scott, LA and Mrs. Wm. Jeff (Nola) Broussard of Milton, LA. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Siblings, Mrs. Mabry (Tina) Simon of Milton, Mr. Francis Fred Broussard of Crowley, Mrs. Beverly C. (Mildred) Picard of Maurice and Mr. Paul Hugh ''Nap'' Broussard of Milton; siblings in law; Mr. Mabry Simon of Milton, Mrs. Francis Fred (Lou) Broussard of Crowley, Mr. Beverly C. Picard of Maurice, Mrs. Paul Hugh (Anna Belle) Broussard of Milton, Mr. Wm. Jeff Broussard of Milton and Mr. Alton Schexnider of Sulphur; niece, Gloria Faye Simon and nephew, Harold Joseph Simon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm by the Ladies Altar Society and 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Thursday 9:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Errol Broussard, Joe Broussard, Tony Broussard, David Hebert, Darrell Schexnider And Greg Sonnier. Honorary Pallbearers will be her nephews, Carroll Broussard, Cody Broussard, Chad Lacy, Guy Picard, Ronald Schexnider, Neil Leleux, Jr. And Noah Leleux.
