Leontine Marie Trappey

Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Leontine Marie Gouaux Trappey, 76, who passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 at her residence. Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery. Mrs. Trappey, a resident of Lafayette was the daughter of the late Claude Bernard Gouaux, Sr. of Napoleonville and the former Lorena Guidry of Carencro. Leontine was an active member of the Junior Service League, the Queen's Committee of the Krewe of Gabriel, a graduate and docent of the Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Coteau. Having grown up on Cherry Street, she was a long time resident and active Parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Lafayette. She had the joy of raising a successful family and was actively involved in mentoring her children and grandchildren, promoting their devotion to the Catholic Church, and inspiring their careers. She is survived by her husband, Randolph Joseph Trappey, Jr.; one daughter, Ella Estelle Marie Johns and her husband, Robert Johns, MD; three sons, Randolph Joseph Trappey, III, Ph.D. and his wife, Frances Meadors Trappey, Alfred Francois Trappey, II, Ph.D. and his wife, Florence Ann Forte Trappey, PE and Professor Charles Vincent Trappey, Ph.D. and his wife, Prof. and Dean Jui-Fen C. Trappey, Ph.D.; six grandchildren, Air Force 2nd Lt. Francois Trappey, LSU Medical School, New Orleans, Florence Elise Trappey, Margaux El'ne Trappey, Fran'oise Leontine Trappey, Shelby Philippe Trappey, Prefect, and Lily Meihua Leontine Johns; two sisters, Lorena M. Wynne and her husband, Bernard of Sierra Madr', California and Louise M. Patout and her husband, Roy of New Iberia; and one brother, Claude Bernard Gouaux, Jr. of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Laurette Ory. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Jerome J. Bourque, Jr., Claude Bernard Gouaux, Jr., Roy Joseph Patout, Edward Francez, John Boring Domingue, Sr., and Randolph J. Trappey, III.
