Linda Marie Dominique

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2021 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Linda Marie Dominique, 71, who passed away on July 24, 2021 at her residence. Fr. Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Basil Catholic Church - Judice, will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Ms. Dominique, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Dominique and the former Elaine Mary Koury. Linda was the second of six sisters. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and member of St. John the Evangelist Parish. She lived for a time in California and Texas but returned to her beloved Louisiana for most of her adult life. Linda loved her family. She had a wonderful imagination and delighted her young nieces and nephews with elaborate make believe stories and dress up games. Linda was an outstanding cook, and her Tabouleh was a feature of many a family gathering. Linda had a special affection for animals. Her favorite dog and faithful companion for many years was Gizmo, a Pug with a very human personality. Linda was highly intelligent and a talented writer. She loved to laugh and was known as the family jokester. She had real style and an excellent sense of fashion and makeup. Linda was a free spirit with a kind and generous heart. She had faith in God and loved to help people. One of her friends even credited Linda with saving her life by helping her through a difficult time. Linda will be missed by many. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth F. Dominique, Maxine D. Voorhies (Michael), Louise D. Molbert (Pat), and Veronica D. Hamilton (Dwight); brother-in-law, Paul J. Giroir; nieces, Shannon Giroir Head (Travis), Roxanne V. Stegall (James), Natalie M. Broussard (Barrett), and Sarah E. Molbert; nephews, Ryan J. Giroir (Lisa), Dr. Michael R. Voorhies Jr (Jennie), David B. Hamilton (Andrea), Stephen E. Hamilton, and John Paul Hamilton; great-nieces, Iris, Louise, Rebecca, Elaine, Evie, and Elizabeth; great-nephews, Sam, Barrett Jr, Leo, Anthony, and Mikey III. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elaine Dominique; and sister, Charlotte D. Giroir. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Thursday, July 29, 2021 beginning at 9:00AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Visitation will continue, following the Rosary, until the time of service. The family would like to thank Linda’s longtime friends Edmond de Boisblanc, Cathy Webre and Janet “Coco” Montgomery, as well as neighbors who became friends as well as caregivers to Linda in later years. Finally, the family would like to thank Dr. Mike Berard for his friendship and wise counsel over many years.
