Linda Lee Thrasher

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Linda Lee Urton Thrasher, 60, who passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Visiting hours will be observed on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of services in Delhomme Funeral Home. Reverend Noah Langley, Chaplin of Hospice of Acadiana will officiate at the funeral services. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Jodi Bollich and soloist, Tara James. Graveside Services will take place on Friday, August 24, 2007 in the El Reno Cemetery in El Reno, OK, following Oklahoma Funeral services which will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 24, 2007 in the First Baptist Church in El Reno, OK. Visiting hours will be observed on Friday, August 24, 2007 from 1 pm until service time at the First Baptist Church of El Reno, OK. Mrs. Thrasher, the daughter of the late Clyde Alvah Urton of El Reno, OK and the former Lillie Alberta Jernigan Urton of El Reno, OK, was a resident of Lafayette. She made her decision for Christ at the age of 12 at the First Christian Church in El Reno, OK. She attended El Reno High and El Reno Jr. College. Mrs. Thrasher worked at Kelso's Department Store in El Reno, then Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City in Medical Records. She married Ted M. Thrasher on July 15, 1972, living in Oklahoma City, then Houston, TX, where she worked at the Houston Methodist Hospital in Medical Records. She and her husband also lived in College Station, where their son, Adam Todd Thrasher was born on May 29, 1978 in Bryan, TX. They also lived in Midland, TX, Spring, TX, and Broken Arrow, OK before settling in Lafayette, LA, where they own and operate Affordable Rental Cars, Inc. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. She and her husband, Ted, especially enjoyed fishing at their weekend home in Dulac, LA and spending time in the mountains at their home in Angel Fire, NM. Mrs. Thrasher is well loved and will be missed greatly by many more family, in-laws, and friends. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Ted M. Thrasher of Lafayette, LA; one son, Adam T. Thrasher of Smyrna, TN; mother, Lillie Urton Hines of El Reno, OK; one brother, Clyde Urton and wife, Connie of Hinton, OK; nieces, Colynda Urton Morgan and husband, John of Yukon, OK, Christina Urton Wilbers, and husband, Dave of Russellville, AR, Clarissa Urton DeVaughan and husband, Steve of Binger, OK, and David Urton Romines and wife, Macayla of Yukon, OK; seven great-nieces and nephews; one uncle, Jessie Urton and wife, LaDwana of Yukon, Ok; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marilyn and Ira B. Thrasher of Conroe, TX. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde A. Urton; step father, Roy 'Chick' Hines; one brother, Robert A. Urton; grandparents, Amon and Ida Jernigan, and Albert and Opal Urton; and cousins, Donnie Upton, Ronnie Upton and Terry Urton. Honorary pallbearers for the Lafayette service will be Billy Moore, Chris Chesson, Jim Thom, Jake Buckley, Jeff Leenhouts, Don Broussard, Casey Duhon, Tom Harris, Bill Jennings, Eric Lambousy, John Perret, Michael Singletary, and Ira 'Ted' Thrasher. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. James Cole, Dr. Steven Abshire and Hospice of Acadiana who helped take care of Linda in her final days.
