A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Lois J. Roy, 96, who passed away on April 8, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her family at Lafayette General Hospital. Reverend Howard Blessing will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. The readers will be Nicole Comeaux and Kristy Simon, and gift bearers will be Olivia Simon and Camille Simon. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Lois was born and raised in Weeks Island, Louisiana and moved to Lafayette to attend Spencer Business College. Upon completion she worked for a CPA firm as well as a law firm. She met the love of her life, our dad, on a blind date while dancing. They had four children together. While raising four children she worked at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's office under Sheriff Carlo Listi. Lois enjoyed painting in all genres, oil, water and acrylic. She and our dad enjoyed spending time at their camp at Cypremort Point having crab boils, fish fries, fishing off the pier and boating. She and our dad loved music, dancing, and having parties with their many friends and loved entertaining. Lois enjoyed cooking special meals for her family including Oysters Rockefeller, Crawfish E'touffee, and her from scratch rice dressing and pecan pie that everyone always looked forward to. She also loved to sew and participate in several Mardi Gras Krewes. She was a caring and dotting mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lois loved her girls mother/daughter lunch and shopping trips. She loved taking care of her home and family. Mom and dad loved to travel around the country but especially loved Florida beaches. Lois, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Antoine Jolet and the former Edna Borel. She is survived by her children, James J. Roy, Jr. and wife, Kathy, Jeannie R. Simon, and Jamie A. Roy; grandchildren, Neil Simon and wife, Kristy, Nicole S. Comeaux and husband, Nicholas, Delanie R. Heim and husband, Mitch, and Jason Mouton and wife, Krystal; great grandchildren, James Comeaux, Christian Comeaux, Olivia Simon, Camille Simon, Jude Simon, Grace Simon, Maxime Heim, and Jackson Heim as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James J. Roy, Sr.; son in law, Ronald G. Simon; son, Joey Roy; grandson, Jeremy Roy; brother, Clifton Jolet, and sister, Jan Jolet Nance. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00PM on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 9:00AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Neil Simon, Mitch Heim, Donald Greagoff, Tim Jolet, Nick Comeaux, James Comeaux, and Christian Comeaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Parkerson Roy, Andy Schmitz, and Bill Stagg. The family would like to thank NSI Home Health, Lourdes Home Health, and the nurses at Ochsner Lafayette General, the last week of her life as well as Dr. Tyler Perrin-Bellelo, Dr. Juan Perez and Dr. Bradley Chastant, Jr. "In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Lois Cecile Roy.
