Lorraine Margaret Savoy

Lorraine Margaret Miller Savoy, 88, died peacefully at her home in Lafayette, Louisiana on June 25, 2008. Lorraine was born on September 4, 1919 in New Iberia, Louisiana. She was a lifelong resident of Lafayette and graduated from Lafayette High School. She was a housewife whose greatest accomplishments were her children. She also worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Lafayette General Hospital. She excelled at gardening and cooking, and was renowned for her wonderful cakes. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining and local events, when she opened her home to family and friends with warm hospitality. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susan Margaret; parents, Alfred Miller, Sr. and Lucille Compton Miller; brother, Alfred Miller, Jr.; sister, Catherine Miller Naomi; and niece, Brenda Naomi Holley. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Shirley L. Savoy; son, Steve A. Savoy and his wife, Connie of Tomball, Texas; daughter, Julie Ann Savoy and her best friend and pet, Spice, of New Orleans, Louisiana; sister, Betty Miller Tatum of Bellevue, Nebraska; nephews, Alfred and David Naomi, Jim Breaux, Mike and Larry Tatum, and Chuck Miller; nieces, Nancy Bean, Becky McDowell, Laura Bernard and Pat Arsement; good friends and neighbors, Trista Littell, Phoebe Trotter, Theresa and Rick Parrie; as well as numerous friends and extended family. The family deeply appreciates the prayers, support and generosity during Lorraine's illness of the following persons: Drs. Frank Bacque and Mike Cain, and staffs for their loving care; Helena Jolivette and her daughter, Bernetta Marks, her caregivers; Hospice of Acadiana, especially Donna Vidrine and Rose Lilly; Lloyd Lejeune's family and staff; Rocky and Brenda Landry and staff; as well as many other concerned friends and family. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana. Funeral Service will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 28, 2008 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers with Father Howard Blessing officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery, Johnson Street, Lafayette, Louisiana.
