Louis Degeyter

Funeral Services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church for Louis Degeyter, 79, who passed away peacefully on January 28, 2012 at 4:55 pm at his residence surrounded by his family. Reverend David Hebert, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Mr. Degeyter, a native and resident of Scott, LA, was the son of the late Moise Degeyter and the former Lorena Stoute both of St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church. He married his sweetheart Laurice Alleman and they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 12, 2011. He worked for ULL for 25 years. He loved listening and dancing to Cajun music, fishing, hunting, storytelling and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted husband, Godfather, uncle and friend. Never meeting a stranger, Louis was always willing to help those in need. Louis will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Laurice of Scott, LA, one sister Ethel Hebert and one brother John Allen Degeyter both of Lafayette, LA and a host of nieces, nephews and God children. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Noeda Robichaux and Beaulah Degeyter, six brothers; Noe, Alfred, Alton, Delton, Simon and Lester Degeyter. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on at Delhomme Funeral Home of Scott Monday, January 30, 2012 from 1:00 pm until 9:00pm A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 am until time of services. Pallbearers will be Glenn Hebert, Edward Degeyter, Robert Degeyter, Gerald Degeyter, Derrick Maitre and Daniel Breaux. Honorary pallbearers will be John Degeyter, Mike Degeyter and Shannon Maitre. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and to all of Mr. Degeyter's family and friends.
