Lucille Melba "Kibbé" Breaux

Mrs. Lucille Melba "Kibbé" Breaux, age 101, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Camelot of Broussard in Broussard, Louisiana. Visitation will be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home in Maurice on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 1:00 PM by Sr. Jeanne d'Arc, CJC. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery in Leroy, Louisiana with Fr. John Joseph, CJC officiating the interment services. She is survived by her son, Michael James Breaux and his wife, Helen Hidalgo Breaux of Lafayette; one daughter-in-law, Linda Landry Breaux of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Jodi Breaux Bordelon and Sheri Breaux Delhomme and her husband, William "Billy" Delhomme, all of Lafayette; three great-grandsons, Jake Garrett Delhomme, Dylan James Bordelon and Joshua Joseph Lemoine; and three sisters-in-law, Relda Breaux Broussard and her husband, Hayes Broussard, Norma Breaux Tate and Maudry Trahan Mire. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester Breaux; her son, Patrick Ray Breaux; parents, Joseph Nazaire Mire and Nella Duhon Mire; one sister, Cecile Mire Mayard; and one brother, Louis Joseph Mire. Kibbé, as she was affectionately known, was born on November 16, 1921, in Kaplan, Louisiana, and was a resident of Andrew, leading a rural simple life, surrounded by rice fields and crawfish ponds. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Chester, which was evident in her unwavering commitment to running a service station and country store for 50 years, which had two gas pumps and four bar stools, meeting the needs of the local farmers. She also enjoyed reading the newspaper and was quite astute regarding local and world events. She enriched the lives of all her family with constant love and was noted for her outstanding Cajun cooking, especially her pork roasts, chocolate cake, and fig preserves, which were graciously prepared and generously shared with family and friends for years. "I lived a good life and raised two fine boys." Pallbearers will be William "Billy" Delhomme, Jake Garrett Delhomme, Dylan James Bordelon, Joshua Joseph Lemoine, Steve Hulin and John Broussard.
