Margaret Ann Ashy

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Margaret Ann Ashy, 91, who passed away on November 2, 2012 at 5:32 pm at her residence. Reverend Tom Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Ashy, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Issac Joseph Ashy of Dahr-Sufra, Syria and Rumsa Doumit Ashy of Latakia, Syria. She was a member of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She lived her life for her husband, her family and the Carmelite Nuns. She had been involved with the Carmelite monastery since she was 15 years old. She will be remembered as a very giving woman. She is survived by her son, Glen Jude Ashy and wife, Sandra; her daughter, Lana Ashy Holden and husband, Dr. Matt Holden; four granddaughters, Bridget Wendell and her husband, Sean, Charmaine Martin and her husband, Erick, Amanda Ashy-Boyd and her husband, Darren, Kristina Hammett and her husband, Tripp; two grandsons, Nicholas Holden and his wife, Amy and Joshua Holden; her eight great grandchildren and her brother, Lionel J. Ashy and his wife, Rita. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Bill" Ashy; her parents, Rumsa Doumit Ashy and Issac Joseph Ashy; two sisters, Gloria Ashy and Anysar Ashy Gignac. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 9:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Johnny Abdella, Joshua Holden, Nicholas Holden, Robert A. Mahtook, Jr., Ronnie Mahtook, Lionel Ashy, Jr., Patrick Colvin, Dr. Matt Holden and Keith Mire. Honorary Pallbearers, Dr. Darrel Elias, Charles Ashy, Jr., Charles Ashy, Sr., Mike Colvin, Michael Doumit, Ronnie Ackal, Tommy Ashy and Edward Gignac. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Ashy asked, donations be made to the Carmelite Monastery at 1250 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA 70501.
