Marie Delorme Norby

Marie Delorme Norby was born on September 8, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023, in her home in Lafayette. Marie grew up in New Orleans and graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart. She attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She finished her undergraduate career at Dominican College in New Orleans and went on to earn her Master of Special Education from the University of New Orleans. Throughout her career, she worked at Children’s Hospital, various schools in the New Orleans and Lafayette area, and most recently as an Educational Diagnostician in Lafayette Parish. No matter where she was, she touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Marie never met a stranger. She was the life of the party, and her positive energy lit up the room. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother (ReRe), sister, and friend to those who knew her. She put those she loved above all else. Always eager to help others, Marie’s kindness and strength is a testament of her faith that God has a special purpose for each of us. Those who were touched by her love and friendship will be forever blessed. She was preceded in death by her father Francis Maynard Delorme, her mother Carmel Milhas Delorme, her sister Carolyn Delorme Blamphin, and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Fernand John Milhas and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Xavier Delorme. Marie is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Timothy R. Norby; daughter Jennifer Norby Taylor and her husband, Kenny; her beloved sisters Catheryn Marie Delorme and Jeanne Delorme Roberts and her husband, James; Her Grandchildren, Amelia Marie Taylor and Kenneth James Taylor, III; Marie’s nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
