Marion Elizabeth Coleman

Funeral services will be held at 3:15 pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at St. Charles Chapel in Grand Coteau for Marion 'Beth' Elizabeth Coleman, 54, who passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at her residence. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her so very much. Reverend James L. Lambert, SJ, Pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Therese Mayer and Barbara Dean. Eulogist will be Tootie Landry. Chris Twiner will read the poem 'The Sky' by Doug Twiner. I'd love to touch the sky tonight; I'd love to touch the sky. Take me in your arms and hold me like a child. Hold me up so high and never let me go. Take me; Take me tonight in your arms and let me touch the sky. Eucharistic Minister will be Jim Lavin. Musical selections will be provided by Christie Anderson who will sing 'On Eagles Wings', 'Be Not Afraid', 'Taste & See', 'Ave Maria', and 'Amazing Grace.' Interment will be held in St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Beth was born in White Castle, Louisiana. She graduated from White Castle High School and Loyola University in New Orleans with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She was a practicing dental hygienist for 34 years and was the first female on the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. Beth is survived by her four loving and devoted children, Peter David Guarisco, IV and wife, Tricia Lavin of New Orleans, Laura Guarisco Black and husband, Grant Joseph of San Angelo, Texas, Taylor Coleman Guarisco of Lafayette, and Kara St. Clair Guarisco of Lafayette; her granddaughter, Myrtle Elizabeth Guarisco; her mother, Marion Adams Coleman of St. Gabriel, Louisiana; five sisters, Cheryl Vallot of Gulfport, Mississippi, Lauren LeBlanc of Lafayette, Billy Jean 'Jeanie' Twiner and husband, Larry of Metairie, Carla Dupuis and husband, Don of Lafayette, and Erin Wentworth and husband, Wayne of Denham Springs; her loving companion and fianc', Jon Feerick; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William Taylor Coleman; and nephew, William 'Doug' Douglas Twiner. Beth gave of her time so unselfishly to her community and her profession. She was a Catechism teacher at Holy Cross Church, a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association, volunteered hours at the Community Health Care Clinic; volunteer at the Tensted Center in Grand Coteau, volunteer for the Special Olympics, gathered a team of friends and volunteered at the Cajun Dome to assist Hurricane Katrina evacuees; a charter member of the LSU Women's Rugby Team; and rallied to preserve the wild iris as Louisiana's wild flower. She loved Jazz and Rhythm and Blues. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue Wednesday from 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Alex Dupuis, Chris Turner, Myles LeBlanc, Shawn Feerick, Travis Phillips and Wayne Woodworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Feerick, Larry Twiner, Don Dupuis, and Cole Feerick.
