Marlene Dohmann Stelly

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in the Holy Cross Catholic Church for Marlene Dohmann Stelly, 81, who passed away on April 9, 2024. Fr. Mario Romero, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and officiate the funeral services. Fr. Michael Russo, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church, will serve as concelebrant of the Mass and assist with the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Marlene grew up in Ville Platte, LA, and met her soulmate Warren Stelly in Opelousas, LA. After their marriage, they moved to Lafayette (LA), then to Kingwood (TX), then back to Lafayette (LA) where they lived most of their lives. Marlene received a BS in Home Economics with distinction from USL in 1968. She worked as an educator for 7 years and her most fulfilling role was being a “homemaker”. She loved to spend hours cooking, baking and preparing delicious meals. She was an outstanding seamstress and member of the Ladybugs Home Demonstration Club, where she represented the Lafayette club at State competition earning several blue ribbons. She was a devoted Catholic with a strong faith. She was a member of many bible study groups, volunteered in the community and took several Catholic pilgrimages. She was a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved God and people, especially her family and children. She was known for always remembering her friends and family’s birthdays with handwritten cards. Marlene is survived by her husband, Charles Warren Stelly; daughter, Shawn Dunn and husband, Mark Dunn of Lufkin, TX; sons, Thad Stelly of Lafayette, LA; Chad Stelly and wife Becky Stelly of Salina, KS; sisters, Karen Manion and husband, John Manion of Mandeville, LA, Pat Lashute and husband, Ronnie Lashute of Lafayette, LA; brother, Will Dohmann and wife, Christine Dohmann of Allen, TX; grandchildren, Alyssa Dunn of Houston, TX, Mason Dunn and wife, Brittany Dunn of College Station, TX; and great grandchild, Mac Allan Dunn. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert “Welo” Anthony and Grace Joubert Dohmann. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Pall bearers will be Chad Stelly, Thad Stelly, Ray Stelly, David Bourque, Huey Bourque, and John Manion In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in memory of Marlene to the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA., when sending a check please add Daughters of Mary, Marlene Stelly on the memo line.
