Mary Ellen Bunker Piper

Private memorial services will be held at a later date for Mary Ellen Bunker Piper, 69, who passed away on January 19, 2023 at her residence. Mary, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Charles Everett Martin and the former Gladys Stutes. Mary was a dear woman, wife and mother who lived a textured life through her many years. She cared deeply for her children and any that were connected to her by either blood or familial bond. Her self- sacrificing service was felt by all that were close to her, and her giving heart was ever present to the very end. She did not hate, but loved, and loved well. Her tongue was an easy one, and heartily enjoyed sharing her many stories from the travels and adventures she experienced. Her life was a hard one at times, but she bore it well and neither complained nor griped that she was owed anything outside of what she received. Widowed twice, she had every reason to lash out and become bitter, but she held strong to the end, her mind bright and her heart proud of the many blessings God had cast all about her. She is missed, loved, remembered and never forgotten. We love you mom, and hold your love in our hearts. She is survived by her children, Michael Bunker (Katy), Jonathan Bunker, Anjalyna Bunker, Matthew Bunker (Angelica), and Daniel Bunker (Andrea); grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Nathanael, Madison, Joshua, Grace, Sarah, Gabriel, Reuben, Eli, Zoey, Lydia, Gloria, Jamen, Gladys, Noah Royer, Claire Royer, Chase Royer; and brother, Ricky Martin (Lana). She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Charles Kirby Bunker Jr.; her second husband, Harry Piper; and brother, David Martin.
