Mary Joyce Moret

Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 12:00 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Mary Joyce Moret, who died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Bethany MHS Health Care Center at 4:55 AM. Rev. Robie Robichaux, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park. Mary Joyce was born in New Orleans, LA on January 29, 1926. She attended public schools and graduated from Loyola University in 1945 with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree. She was employed by the Social Security Administration and worked there until 1952. She came to Lafayette with her family in 1965. She was blessed with many friends and was active in her community. She served as a pink lady at Lafayette General Medical Center for many years. Along with her husband, she was a member of the Krewe of Gabriel and Krewe of Zeus. Mary Joyce belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a member of L'Avenir and past president and also a member of the Acadiana Symphony Women's League. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Sugar Bees. She had served as a Eucharistic Minister at the Medical Center of the Southwest. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Vernon Moret of Lafayette; three children, Vernon H. Moret, Jr. and wife, Debora of Lafayette, Rene P. Moret and wife Janet of Huntsville, AL, Michelle Moret Todd and husband Michael Todd of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Ryan and Claire Moret, Jennifer, Stephen and Katherine Todd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Eunice Jeansonne, a brother Lester L. Jeansonne, and a grandchild, Patrick Moret. Visitation will be observed at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 419 Doucet Road, Lafayette, LA from 10:30 AM to time of services at 12:00 pm. Pallbearers will include Wood Breazeale, Paul Moret, Ryan Moret, Stephen Todd, James Vildibill, III, and Arethur Zatarain. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Bethany and Hospice of Acadiana. Donations may be made in Mary Joyce's memory to Hospice of Acadiana or Bethany Health Care Center.
