Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2012 in the Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice for Matthew Ryan Young, 24, who passed away March 11, 2012. He was excited about his recent motorcycle purchase and had just completed a two day motorcycle class. He took his motorcycle out for the first time when he was involved in a tragic accident. Deacon Jim Davis will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Matthew attended Lafayette High School where he was a member of the golf club and was attending college to earn a business degree. He was a caddy for Redwood golf course in Houston and worked downtown at Ragin Cajun where he loved promoting the Louisiana cuisine. His goals were to follow his passion for golf and attend the Professional Golfers Career College in Florida so that he might become a golf pro. He also wanted to pursue his passion for Louisiana Cooking by opening a restaurant that featured his take on Louisiana foods. He had desires to travel and see what other places in the world had to offer. Matthew was well respected for his kindness and generosity to others. His heart was pure, and he always saw the good in people. He will truly be missed. Survivors include his mother, Vanessa Mercier Crow; step-father, Mike Crow; father, James Steven Young; step-mother, Roxann Young; brothers: Phillip Young, Mark Crow, Ryan Crow, Michael Young; sisters: Valerie Young, Shanna Crow; grandparents: Bonnie and Leo Mercier, Louann Young and Bonnie Crow; cousins: Elliott Mercier, Emily Mercier, Jake Mercier, Molly Mercier, Josie Mercier, Sydney Mercier, Rebekah Young, Chuck Stewart, and Elizabeth Stewart. He was uncle to Braeden and Rayna Crow. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Billy 'Grumps' Young. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and continue Thursday from 8:00 am to time of service. Pallbearers will be Phillip Young, Ryan Crow, Mark Crow, Scott Young, Kent Mercier, Kurt Mercier, Todd Mercier, and Troy Mercier. Honorary pallbearers will be Elliiott Mercier, Jake Mercier and Michael Young.
