Mazie Latiolais Guidry

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at St. Jules Catholic Church for Marie Mazie Latiolais Guidry, 95, who passed peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Landmark of Acadiana. Fr. Gregory Chauvin will officiate the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Jacie Lillie Moncla and Monique Smith Lillie. Gift Bearers will be her great-granddaughters, Lillie Moncla and Alexa Lillie. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Born on October 1, 1927, in Breaux Bridge, Marie Mazie Latiolais was the daughter of the late Pierre Genius Latiolais and Marie Philosaire Courville, both of St. Martin Parish. She was a native of Cecilia and a resident of Lafayette for the past 68 years. Mazie never met a stranger, befriending everyone that she came across. She was a long-time member of St. Jules Catholic Church Community, where she was seen every Saturday afternoon in the front pew, for over 55 years. She and her husband were in the carwash, drycleaning, and grocery store business. Prior to her retirement, she and her husband owned Swifty Foods Store in Carencro. She loved camping with family and friends. Mazie was a member of the same Pokeno group for the past 48 years where she made countless memories with her favorite women. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially playing cards with them, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Janice G. Hulin and her husband Harry and Debra G. Lillie and her husband Joe all of Lafayette; one son Terry P. Guidry, of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Joseph V. Lillie II and his wife Monique of Prosper, Texas, Jacie L. Moncla and her husband Cain “Andrew” of Lafayette, Matthew Guidry of Lafayette, and Blake Guidry of Youngsville; and five great-grandchildren, Maddox, Lillie, and Tucker Moncla of Lafayette, and Nathan and Alexa Lillie of Prosper, Texas. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Isaac Guidry; her parents, Pierre and Marie Courville Latiolais; four sisters, Agnes L. Pontiff, Ethel L. Laneaux, Elsie L. Gauthreaux, and Vosie L. Huval; and five brothers Antoine Latiolais, Alfred Latiolais, Louis Latiolais, Cecil Latiolais , and Arthur Latiolais. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and continue Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 8:00 am to the time of services. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 6:00 pm in the funeral home by the St. Jules Angels of Service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons Matthew Guidry, Blake Guidry, Joseph Lillie II, Nathan Lillie, Maddox Moncla, and Tucker Moncla. Honorary pallbearer will be Andrew Moncla. The family would like to thank the staff of Landmark of Acadiana for their compassionate care during Mazie’s time of need.
