Michael Aaron Nugent

Michael Aaron Nugent, 73, was called home to Heaven on December 10, 2023. Born on January 19, 1950, in Lafayette, Louisiana to Warren Aaron Nugent and Betty Hebert Nugent, Michael was a devout believer who loved his Lord and Savior. In his younger years, Michael had numerous friends and was known as “Hook” by many. He loved horses and spent many hours on the family land riding his horse. Michael was a graduate of Lafayette High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Management from University of Southwestern Louisiana. During college, he worked in physical therapy. After graduation, Michael worked in the food industry before joining the U.S. Marine Corp and then studying at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas. His studies of the Bible and the Lord were furthered by a trip to Jerusalem. Michael lived a life guided by strong faith; he had a solid personal relationship with God and was always searching to know His love. Michael sought to glorify the Lord in his ways and he believed that life was a challenge and that the Lord said we all must consider our ways – set your heart on your ways, think about them, examine them well. Peter says, “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” Although Michael had struggles in life, he always had the grace and peace given to him through his knowledge of God. Michael joins his father, Warren Aaron Nugent, as well as his brother, William Warren Nugent, in Heaven. He is survived by his mother, Betty Hebert Nugent, his sister Leesa Nugent Renoux and husband Serge and their son, Ian, sister Kellie Nugent Wendt and husband Rob and their children, Caroline, William, & August, brother John Nugent and wife Virginia and their children, Lyla and John-Warren. Mass intentions will be offered in Michael’s memory at 4:30 p.m. on January 20, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 419 Doucet Rd, Lafayette, LA.
