On Friday July 31, 2015 Team Michelle lost their Most Valuable Player, Michelle Nanette Rivero at the age of 51, surrounded by family and in the arms of her loved ones. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 12:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers. Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Michelle was a survivor and forged a path that brought her further than most would have ever imagined.To bring people happiness was Michelle's calling, throughout her life and career she had the honor and privilege, to bring out the beauty in everyone that crossed her path, not realizing that it truly brought out the beauty in her. Little as she was her strength amazed most people; she often gave others the strength and courage to get through their journey, whatever it may be and in turn she expected nothing. Michelle fought every day to stay alive and to be with those she loved the most. No one could ever ask for a more loving and supportive person to have in their life. No matter where this journey brings her next, she will forever carry the love of so many with her, as we are sure there is a piece of Michelle that will forever remain with them. Michelle was blessed in this life with her love and fiancée David Richard, her daughter Meghan Foppiano and her granddaughter Lucy Gaspard; her mother, Soundra Rivero (Harold Benoit); her Father, Nelson Rivero (Gema Rivero); her twin sister, Rachael Sonnier (David Sonnier); her brother, Nelson Rivero Jr. (Ashley Rivero); her sister, Solange Noriega (James Noriega); her sister, Andreah Prejean (Dennis Prejean); her sister, Veronica Rivero Celli (Oscar Celli) and her brother, Luis Mariano Rivero. Michelle had enough love in her for her Goddaughter Josefina Gaspard, 16 nieces and nephews, one great nephew and more family and friends than one could possibly imagine. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Solange Sue Dore, her uncle, Wilton Sonnier Jr. and her cousin Shannon Castille, her paternal grandmother Delia Rivero, and her uncle Alfredo Rivero. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette, La. from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm with a rosary recital at 6:00 pm and will continue on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 9:00 am until time of service. Our family would like to thank Michelle's entire staff at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, for making her feel safe and protected, during our time there.
