Minnie Fontane Laborde

Funeral services for Minnie Fontane Laborde, 88, will be held on July 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand in Lafayette, Louisiana. Chaplain Glen Pearrow will officiate. Minnie wished for a short visitation, which will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the start of the ceremony. Minnie Murphy was born on January 27, 1935, in Hessmer, Louisiana, and lived most of her adult life in Lafayette. She was known to her family as a hard-working, supportive mother, a fierce, loving grandmother, an irreplaceable sister, and a dear friend. To all who knew her, she was known as someone infinitely generous with her love, with a seemingly effortless talent for accepting others and recognizing their individual god-given gifts. A devout Methodist and animal lover, her prayers, said religiously at mealtimes and before bed, were always overflowing with well-wishes for her family, friends, friends of friends, and even strangers, including each and every one of their pets. She returned home to be with her Lord at 7:40 PM on July 17, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Minnie is survived by a large and fruitful family. Her eight children: daughters Charlene Mullins and her spouse, Doug; Diane Bullard and her spouse, Dennis; Stephanie Stielper and her spouse, Mark; and Sandra Laborde Broussard; sons Louis “Bubby” Laborde; Richard “Todd” Laborde; William “Bill” Laborde and his spouse, Andrea; and André Laborde. Her nineteen grandchildren: Ashley, Aaron and his spouse Victoria, Carly and her spouse Jeff, Levon, Darby, Zachary, Taylor and her spouse Jeff, Baylee, Beth, Michelle, Amanda, Maggie, Austin, Hannah, Logan, Lauren, Kalin, Peyton, and Audrey. Her thirteen great-grandkids: Owen, Preston, Maddie, Colton, Ellie, Emren, Kamryn, Parker, Vance, Drew, Zella, Phoenix, and Liam. And her faithful and very spoiled dog Sam. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Bordelon, and husband Allen, of Sand Springs, OK, and her brother Darrell Fontane of Fort Collins, CO. Minnie is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Billy Gene Laborde; her sister, Marguerite Roberts; her father, Richard Fontane, and her mother, Minnie Murphy Fontane. The family owes a huge debt of gratitude to Lafayette General and Hospice of Acadiana; and special thanks to Hannah Broussard, hospice RN, for her loving care of her grandmother.
